College of Agriculture Explores Establishing a Smart Agriculture Department

In response to recent advancements in agriculture and the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) and its applications in improving the quality and yield of agricultural products through cost-effective and eco-friendly methods—and in alignment with the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the University of Kirkuk to modernize academic departments—the College of Agriculture has formed a committee to study the establishment of a Smart Agriculture Department.

Assistant Professor Dr. OsamaH Ibrahim Ahmed, Dean of the College, stated that the committee held its inaugural meeting under his supervision to draft a proposal for the new department. The plan includes updating scientific curricula, discussing ideas proposed by the committee, and refining solutions to develop a comprehensive strategy for submission to the ministry to secure official approvals.

The committee comprises a distinguished group of the college’s faculty members:

  • - Professor Dr. Khattab Abdullah Mohammed (Chair)

  • - Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Abdulrahim Mohammed

  • - Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Mohammed Noori

  • - Assistant Professor Dr. Ismail Younis Hassan

  • - Assistant Professor Dr. Wael Fahmi Abdulrahman
