The Field Crops Department at the College of Agriculture, University of Kirkuk, organized a scientific visit for its students to the Seed Testing and Certification Directorate in Kirkuk.
Professor Dr. Khattab Abdullah Mohammed, Head of the Field Crops Department and leader of the visiting delegation, explained that the visit, which included faculty members and students, aimed to enhance students’ expertise in their specialization. During the visit, students learned to:

1- Distinguish between different wheat varieties.

2- Identify weed seeds that commonly infiltrate crops and methods for sorting them and calculating impurity ratios in seed samples.

3- Recognize pests affecting wheat crops, including diseases, insects, and their harmful life stages.
Dr. Mohammed emphasized that this visit aligns with collaborative efforts between agricultural colleges and relevant institutions. It is part of a series of visits initiated by the department to keep students updated on advancements in agricultural practices, particularly in field crop management.
