Under the patronage of the respected President of the University of Kirkuk, Professor Dr. Imran Jamal Hassan, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Agriculture, Assistant Professor Dr. Osamah Ibrahim Ahmed, and the Head of the Horticulture and Landscape Engineering Department, Professor Dr. Kefaya Ghazi Saeed, the department organized a workshop titled Ornamental Plants in the Age of Technology. The event was attended by faculty members and postgraduate students.
The workshop featured a lecture by Assistant Lecturer Lina Saadoon Abdulmajeed, who presented the latest technologies for producing sustainable ornamental plants that address modern environmental challenges. She emphasized innovative techniques such as smart irrigation systems, AI-driven pest management, and the use of renewable energy in urban green spaces.
The workshop concluded with recommendations to:
-
Adopt modern technologies (e.g., IoT sensors, robotics) and sustainable farming practices in ornamental plant production.
-
Enhance plant biodiversity by integrating climate-resilient species into urban landscapes.
-
Promote interdisciplinary collaboration between agricultural scientists, technologists, and urban planners to align ornamental horticulture with global sustainability goals.
